Your Noosa Sports Chiropractor

Ba. HSc, M.Clin.Chiro

Dr Jake Currie (chiro) graduated from RMIT in 2013 with a bachelor of Health Sciences and a Masters degree in chiropractic. After running a busy clinic in the junction for many years, Jake now practices part-time from inside CrossFit Noosa working with a select few clients. Outside of practice Jake teaches healthcare professional a technique he created known as Mind Body Therapy.

Jake has a special interest in functional neurology and chronic pain patterns. Dr Jake works with clients who have “tried everything” and seen many different practitioners to resolve their pain and health issues.

Dr Jake has a particular interest and skillset for helping people with Post Concussion Syndrome. What a lot of people do not realise is that if you have ever sustained a concussion, or had multiple head knocks through contact sports, you may have some underlying and unresolved concussion symptoms which can cause persistent pain, brain fog, balance issues, and even anxiety.

If you are expecting a “normal” chiropractic session with quick adjustments, lots of loud cracking, and short appointment times Noosa Sports Chiropractic may not be the place for you. We can recommend plenty of other local practitioners if you are looking for a more traditional chiropractor.

Instead, Jake uses cutting-edge techniques based on functional neurology, kinesiology, and nervous system regulation to help you get to the root cause of your issues. These techniques can often help you improve your pain levels, muscular tension, and range of motion without any manual “cracking” adjustments.

So if you have tried many types of health practitioners to get well, or have been told you are “a complex case” but you are still struggling with ongoing or persistent symptoms book your first appointment online today and let us look at your health from a new perspective.

Dr. Jake Currie

Jakes's areas of interest:

  • Persistent injuries or chronic pain patterns: does your pain come back again and again even after multiple treatments?

  • Post-concussion syndrome (PCS): are you struggling with dizziness, balance issues, visual fatigue, neck pain or anxiety following a concussion or head knock?

  • Sensory Issues: conditions like ADHD or sensory issues have links with retained primitive reflexes, visual issues, and vestibular or balance issues. Jake loves helping adults and children struggling with these issues.

  • Anxiety: anxiety can have many psychological origins but you may find your symptoms are made worse if your nervous system is out of balance or “stuck” in a fight-flight state known as Sympathetic Dominance.

  • Mobility Issues: do you find that you have impaired mobility or flexibility in various joints? Often this can be traced back to brain and nervous system imbalances rather than tight muscles.

What to expect at Noosa Sports Chiropractic

As mentioned previously, at Noosa Sports Chiropractic we do not use many of the more traditional chiropractic techniques which typically involve manual adjustments or manipulation of the spine. In your first session, Jake will assess your visual system, vestibular system (balance), and check for any retained primitive reflexes.

We will also identify any movement or mobility restrictions you have that are impacting your daily living or sporting endeavors.

Our treatment uses lots of muscle testing, eye movements, and brain retraining which is designed to calm your nervous system, reduce muscular tension and pain, improve mobility and help your muscles “fire” or switch on correctly.

Many people who have been to more traditional chiropractors, or physiotherapists find the treatment approach unique, or even “weird”, but they love the changes they see and feel in their body.

What you won’t get at Noosa Sports Chiropractic

  • Short appointment times: all our standard appointments are 30mins minimum. We take a thorough approach for every patient.

  • Lengthy care plans. Jake’s goal is to help you feel better in the least amount of appointments possible. We do not want to see you forever. You will never be sold into long-term care plans that have you coming back again and again.

  • Cookie Cutter Treatments: everyone is unique, every session is unique. You will be treated differently every visit as your body changes and improves.

  • Painful or uncomfortable adjustments: the treatments used at Noosa Sports Chiropractic are very gentle yet powerful. Great for people who don’t respond well to, or don’t like, big cracking adjustments.

  • Copious amounts of complicated rehab exercises: firstly, you probably wouldn’t do them if we prescribed these to you, right? And secondly, what we find is that when we get your nervous system functioning better muscles start firing correctly without stretching or strengthening exercises.
